Hi Carl!  I just wanted to let you know that my daughter and I enjoyed staying in your lovely condo while in Maui to celebrate her 50th birthday.  We found everything clean and in good condition on arrival.  We were careful to treat your condo as we would our own home and trust that Norm found everything in good condition on our departure.  You certainly provided all we needed (and more) to make us comfortable during our stay.  Your location was great for getting around the island.  We were out and busy everyday, and the condo with its balcony view was great to return to each evening.  We wouldn't hesitate to rent your unit again and would be happy to recomment it to our friends.  Thank you for sharing your home with us.  Marion, New freedom, PA

Aloha, Carl:

Thanks for allowing us to spend three months in your place by the sea. Definitely, the quietest place ever in any place we've ever spent on Maui.  The staff here are very pleasant and helpful. The broadband connection allowed us to skype our kids and extended family. Our only compliant is that the two palm trees in front of the place interfere with the sunsets after mid October, so we had to move to the master bedroom lanai (pretty sad, eh).          From our guests, the favorite activities are:

1. Trip to Lanai via catamaran to go snorkelling and tour the city,

2. Trip to Hana and the hike to the upper falls,

3. Hiking in the crater, Haleamu'u Trail to Holua Cabin and back

4. Lahaina and the trip around the north part of the island.

5. Snorkelling at Makena and south...

Dear Carl,

Thank you much for letting us stay at your condo in Maui.  This was our 10^th visit to Maui and by far your condo was the best we have stayed at to-date and the best value.  It is extremely spacious and the kitchen was very nicely appointed and the new appliances were a definite bonus.  The views from the two bedrooms and the lanai were incredible and I miss waking up every morning and opening my eyes to see the ocean and the palm trees – from my pillow – I didn’t even have to lift my head!  I also found the condo location much quieter than previous condos we have stayed at. We also enjoyed the use of the bbqs which are conveniently located next to the pool so the kids could swim while we grilled.   In our view the best beaches are in Kihei-Wailea and so the condo is the perfect location to hit the waves. 

I would recommend your condo any time.  Also, thanks for the quick turnaround on the security deposit – that’s excellent service.  We’ll be in touch soon to make our booking for 2010!

Aloha Carl.  First of all I want to thank you for the prompt refund of our deposit.  It nearly beat us back to the mainland!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at, "Le Penthouse".  It met our expectations and much more.  Truly, the best location in the complex.  What a view of the ocean and mountains to the north not only from the lanais off the living room and master bedroom, but the second bedroom as well.  Never have we stayed in a condo in Hawaii where such a view is afforded from just about anywhere in the unit.

What a well stocked kitchen and we used it everyday.  Although we did dine out sometimes, we took advantage of dining in and watching the sunset from the lanai.  And although we didn't have to call, what a nice note from Norm letting us know if we needed anything to just give him a call anytime.

The pool area and center grounds were wonderful.  We spent parts of three days just lounging by the pool and playing in the water with our granddaughter.

We took advantage of stopping at COSTCO on the way in, as it is located right near the airport.  Both Safeway and Star Markets are located just a short distance from the complex and we utilized both.

We liked dining at Stella Blues just down Kihei Rd from the complex.  For Greatful Dead groupies, it's walls are full of memorabilia.  The food and serve were great and special pricing for dining before 6:30pm.  If you just want good Hawaiian food, check out Da Kitchen Express on Kihei Rd a couple of miles south of the complex.  We found it full of local patrons; a line at the order counter; great prices; and, did I mention the food.  You can call ahead and place your order (we did) to save time and waiting.  Even if you have to wait, it is well worth it, in our opinion.  If a dining in experience is what you are looking for Da Kitchen Express is not for you; however, if you are looking for good Hawaiian food it is the place.

Again, thanks for letting us stay at "Le Penthouse".  What a wonderful place for the price.  We don't have any immediate plans to return to the Islands soon. However, if/when we do we hope, "Le Penthouse" will be available; and, we will certainly recommend it to our friends.

Thank you for returning our deposit.

 

And a bigger thank you for letting us stay in your home in Maui.

It met all of our expectations.  It was perfect for us.

 

In answer to your specific questions:

 

1. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your condominium.  The interior felt "new", bright and spacious.  The kitchen was compete and very functional, and the mirrored walls made the place feel twice as big.  Internet access was easy to set up. The balcony was great for viewing the ocean and the sunsets.  And the location at the North end of Kihei was ideal providing short driving times to everything in Kihei and McKenna as well as a short drive (less than 40 minutes) to Lahaina and Kaanapali etc.) and kahaliu.  The pool area was very nice.  And the barbeques were a bonus, they were very clean, seemed almost brand new.   In summary it is a great condo.  We enjoyed it very much. 

2. The condo was very clean when we arrived

3. We had everything we needed. Lots of towels and sheets etc. and the kitchen had everything we needed and more.

4. We would definitely consider staying in your condo again if we return to Maui (which we might in 2 years or so) and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

5. The obvious activities to recommend are driving the road to Hana and driving up to the summit of Haleakala.  We enjoyed both.  We ate suppers out about half of the time; enjoyed the Pupu Lounge, Moose McGillycuddey's, Fred's Mexican, Outback Steak house, Bubba Gumps for lunch, Cheeseburger in paradise for lunch.  All were good.  the restaurant that we would recommend is the Greek Bistro in behind Moose McGillycuddey's in Kihei.  Their menu is somewhat limited (and Greek) but the calamari starter is the best we have ever had and the prices are reasonable.

 

Over-all we had a great time.  Maui is a great island to visit.  This was our third visit to Maui and we've thoroughly enjoyed it each time.  We spent most of or mornings and early afternoons on various beaches McKenna, Kaanapali, Wailea, McKenna Cove/Secret Cove, drove the road to Hana, drove up to the haleakala SummIt, took a snorkel trip to Molokini/turtle town, checked out the IO needle, wandered through Lahaina and Kaanapali, snorkelled at Wailea, Ahihi and Kaanapali/Black rock, checked out most of the beaches on the island, did the usual tourist shopping at the local shops and swap meets etc and vegged out at the condo. It was a great vacation.

We enjoyed the lovely pool and the Jacuzzi, and the very convenient location to so many great Maui activities - snorkeling, walking on the beach and the Maui Ocean Center. BUT - Sitting on the balcony - watching the sunset as the breezes ruffled the palm trees - priceless. Very comfortable and well-appointed space - with a well stocked kitchen. We loved out time at the condo and can't wait to go back.

Le Penthouse has beautiful views from each bedroom and living area. The condo is wonderfully stocked: champagne glasses to knives. Waking up to the view each day was what made this vacation one of our best! Maui is beautiful and this condo is conveniently located and very comfortable. We did not want to leave and are looking forward to returning!

Le Penthouse was perfect for my first visit to Hawaii and Maui. The condo was quiet, clean, comfortable, not to mention the incredible views from our lanais - amazing. The sunsets and early mornings were the most exquisite. We were close to everything and having a fully stocked kitchen came in handy as to avoid eating out every meal. Thank you again so much Carl and Paula, Danny and I will be back soon!!!

everyday, we had everything we need, room was comfortable.
My father has bad knees so he cannot walk far. He stayed in the room
most of the time but he stayed in the Lanai and watched whales
splashing and enjoyed spectacular sunsets every evening. He really
liked your new bathtub because it is big.

The condo is absolutely beautiful. What a great job you all did in redecorating and creating such a lovely atmosphere. The sad thing is with the wedding and all, we were not there as much as I would have liked. We were in constant motion until after the wedding. (Our daughter got married on the beach in front of Kihei Surfside/ 5 Palms restaurant.)

Mike and I want to return next fall to enjoy ourselves and to appreciate your wonderful location and awesome condo even more.

It was clean and had everything we needed. Didn't use the kitchen but next time we will! We read "Maui Revealed" cover to cover and have lots we want to do next time.

Most definitely we would recommend the condo to any and all, as long as it doesn't keep us from coming back the week we want to!

We stayed at Le Penthouse for one week in October 2007 and it was beautiful! Amazing views of the ocean from both the living room and bedroom balconies. Very clean and quiet with all the amenities of home. We ate in almost every night, as we knew we'd have a hard time beating the views anywhere else. Very convenient location as the condo is very close to grocery stores and restaurants and is just a short walk to the beach. We would absolutely recommend staying at this condo - we can't wait to go back!
